Carasol parasols are based on the Japanese approach to parasol designs. Our parasols feature a unique folding process. Please read the instructions below to get a sense of how the Carasol parasol functions. A video demonstrating this process will be available soon.
How to Fold Your Carasol Parasol
Folding your parasol may be confusing at first, but the more you do it, the easier and faster it gets.
- Take the opened parasol and close it by pressing in the top spring and gently pulling down the runner.
- Put your left hand on the runner and turn parasol upside down. Keep your left hand on the runner.
- Notice the joint in the middle of each rib (ribs are the long parts giving the parasol its shape). Holding the runner in place, collapse each rib by applying light pressure to the joint in an outward direction. After this is completed, the folds of fabric between the ribs may be a little messy.
- Still keeping the runner in place, gently pull out each fabric fold that is between each rib. Make sure each fold is neat and flat.
- Once all the folds are pulled out and neatly flat, pull the runner up a bit until the joints of the ribs close together around the runner. Put your left hand around the joints.
- Make sure the fabric folds fall in a clockwise direction, one on top of the other.
- Keeping your left hand around the joints, wrap your right hand around the center of the folds and turn your right hand in a clockwise direction, wrapping the folds tighter and tighter until you can tie the parasol's strap around the folds (strap is located on one of the folds).
- Secure the strap over button.
- Hold the end of the parasol (the part with the folds) in one hand as you lightly push on the handle to close the parasol.
- Place the parasol in its cover and store in a clean, dry, cool place.
